Our Island Home – Umbrella Art Gallery
Feature Artist: Michelle McGuinn
After travelling around Australia for 2.5 years my compass led to Magnetic Island in 2007. Having lived in Sydney, Bangkok and Jakarta, the beauty, serenity and nature of this quiet tropical paradise drew me in. A past background and training in the fashion industry has encouraged and developed my design awareness. I use bold colour, collage and print effects to depict Magnetic Island in my art work. I often become a ‘tourist for a day’ and armed with my camera and sketchpad, I explore! It’s quite exhilarating to take in nature and all it offers.
Michelle McGuinn’s work is showcased in the Grand Hotel and Apartments Townsville lobby for the next few months.
